Ruta del Vino
For as many times as we head south almost every weekend, we haven't been to the vineyards in a while. My mother in law invited us to Ochento's pizza as a continuation of my husband's birthday celebration. The weather could have not been more perfect for the occasion. It felt more like a summer afternoon, rather than it being only February.
Ochento's Pizza
As you drive out the Ochento's Pizza, you might start to wonder if it actually exists, but once you arrive you will realize that it was more than worth it. We showed up a little bit before 2pm, and chose to dine outside. Honestly as soon as the clock struck 2pm, the restaurant started to fill up in just minutes.
We started off sharing their Spinach salad, and a glass of Petite Syrah. The salad consisted of fresh spinach leaves, apple slices, dried cranberries, bacon, and pine nuts and tossed in a light vinaigrette. It was light, yet full of bright and hearty flavors. We were a bit indecisive on what pizza to order, so the waitress suggested that we order 2 different halves on our pizza. We settled for their "3 Quesos", and "Triple Ochentos".
Their 3 Quesos isn't only made up of cheeses, it also has bacon, seasoned ground beef, and red bell pepper. The cheeses that they use are Mozarella, Provolone, and Cheddar.
The Triple Ochentos is for the meat lover in the group. This pizza pie is made up of Salami, Canadian Ham, Pepperoni, and garlic.
As soon as the pizza is placed on the table, the aromas float up to your nose, and take you to a pizza happy place. The first bite actually brought me back to my childhood, and a little pizzeria that we used to frequent. You know that when that happens, that this place will forever be an amazing memory to you. You can taste the love that went into making these pizzas. We will be returning to Ochento's, I am assuming for multiple visits. I can just imagine how beautiful it must be in the Summer.
Corazón de Tierra
A visit to Corazon de Tierra wasn't in our plans this visit down, but we saw the signs and couldn't resist. We were still satisfied from our previous meal, but we knew that we could squeeze in another glass of wine. Everything about his restaurant is absolutely beautiful! I seriously felt like I stepped into a little getaway for the time that we spent there. We enjoyed a glass of their Tempranillo, and absorbed all of the gorgeous scenery around us. I started immediately making plans with my husband, as to when we would return to enjoy Chef Diego Hernandez's creations. Not that I was trying to listen, but you could hear the couples behind us just raving about their meals. Perhaps our wedding anniversary, or even my birthday we will be returning to Corazon de Tierra.
LA Cetto Vineyards
We ended our day with a visit to LA Cetto Vineyards. We had apparently lost track of time, which who wouldn't when you are in a state of bliss, and showed up as they were closing. Luckily, we have been to these vineyards before, and are familiar with these wines. My husband was gifted with a bottle of Nebiolo, which is our favorite of their wines. We have yet to open it, but I am thinking that this weekend will be a wonderful time to enjoy that bottle.
