Some of the best food and drink happenings from the region are coming soon!
It's time to go outside to eat, drink and play with spring in full swing, and the summer months right around the corner. Here's a list of some great events in Tijuana, Valle de Guadalupe and San Diego (the list will be updated as more events come in). Time to fill up your calendar with some sunshine and libations!
Saturday, May 12 | San Diego
4th Annual San Diego Paella Wine & Beer Festival
This Spanish festival will feature local and international chefs cooking over 130 different paellas and tapas. The wine, beer, sangria, and spirits will be flowing to help you wash it all down. Aromas of meat, seafood and an array of colorful vegetables will linger through the air, as you listen to the sounds of local live bands, and a Flamenco dance show. More than 50 acclaimed Paella participants will compete for new titles here in San Diego. This is a family friendly event, welcoming you to experience a taste of Spain at the Embarcadero Marina Park.
The San Diego Paella Wine & Beer Festival will continue to benefit the local non-profit association Urban Corps San Diego County. Their unique work-learn program allows low-income young adults to finish high school while still earning a paycheck.

Mother's Day Brunch at Finca La Divina
Grab the family, and come enjoy live music, and local Valle fare at the famed Finca La Divina Bed and Breakfast this Sunday. It’s time to celebrate the special women in your lives, Mexican wine country style. Chefs Javier Plascencia and Pedro Peñuelas will be dishing out a mouth watering family style feast, stocked with mimosas, Baja wines, and craft beer. Cocktail hour, and the passing of small plates starts at 10 AM.

Lechuza Vineyard's Annual Spring Release Party
Lechuza Vineyards will host their Annual Spring Release Party introducing their 2015 ‘Royal Crush’ Reds, Chardonnay and Royal Blush wines. Featured chefs Drew Deckman of Deckman’s En El Mogor in Valle de Guadalupe, Lula Martin Del Campo of Restaurante Cascabel in Mexico City, and Dan Krohmer of Other Mama in Las Vegas will be serving up borderless barbecue. The dishes are inspired by throwback BBQ flavors with a Mexican influence of flavors, and local ingredients. Spots are limited! The one of a kind event kicks off at 4pm on Saturday, May 26th. Make sure to come in comfortable shoes ready to dance through the night underneath the stars.

Expo Cerveza Artesanal (Tijuana Craft Beer Expo)
Baja craft beer lovers unite! Whether you are beer connoisseur, or just simply enjoy a refreshing cold one, this festival should be on your summer list of things to do in Tijuana. Sip a wide variety of local craft beers specially made for the festival, while enjoying live music and small bites in Playas de Tijuana.

San Diego County Fair
This year’s theme, “How Sweet it is” is sure to tempt all of the senses. From overflowing chocolate fountains to more fried foods than you can count, the fair is guaranteed to have you indulging in dizzying rides, hilarious comedy shows, and jamming out to the sounds of some of your favorite bands, all gathered in one place.

Fiesta de los Viñedos en Flor
This family-friendly event, representing the spring time, and the beauty of the flowering vineyards, is hosted by Comité Pro-Vino in support of the San Vicente Shelter. The event will showcase some of the best local products from Valle de Guadalupe. Make sure to bring the littles in tow, so they can enjoy activities like tractor rides through the vineyards, sack races, and kite flying. There will also be a market, picnic areas, and more than 50 wines to taste.

The Cado
In celebration of California’s favorite fruit, this mobile structure, consisting of 16 shipping containers, is serving as an interactive shrine to the green beauty, and is popping up in San Diego this June. Features include old school Walkmans being passed around to give you all the info on how the ‘cados’ go from grove to grocer. Still not sure about what a perfectly ripe avocado feels like? They will have textured walls in the Ripe room to display just that. Make sure to get your ‘good side’, as plenty of photo ops will be available in ombre hallways, and a room set to look like a powder room, because avocados do offer those beauty perks too.

Decanto's Winery 3rd Anniversary #EventoDeLaBota
Valle de Guadalupe’s Decantos Winery celebrates their 3rd anniversary with their renowned wine boot event. Come dressed in your crisp white linens, and don’t let the thoughts of wine staining them propose a problem. Your ticket will include a 1 liter boot filled with Decantos wine, and tastings served up by local culinary chefs and stars of the region. Perhaps you should start practicing that special wine pour now.

Valle de Guadalupe's Harvest Festival
Mexico’s boasting wine region begins their annual wine harvest festival July 26, which continues until August 19. The 28th year of the Fiestas de la Vendimia, will include a series of exclusive events and parties, that are held at individual wineries throughout the Valle de Guadalupe. A celebration of the harvest season of the grapes is hosted through galas, private dinners, wine tastings, and a grand paella festival to end the near month long of events. It is truly an amazing way to enjoy the local wines and cuisine. Stay tuned as the full schedule of calendar Vendima events continues to unfold as the dates quickly approach.
