Local Love: La Central Urban Grill pairs with Novo Brazil brewery in Chula Vista
Introducing our new ‘Local Love’ series, where we highlight some of our favorite spots in-and-around Chula Vista and the South Bay. The best places to eat, drink, and see in our very own backyard.
Chula Vista’s Novo Brazil brewery welcomes La Central Urban Grill, a North of Mexico inspired outdoor grill that makes all your carne asada dreams come true. Sitting beside Eastlake’s renowned Brazilian brewery, La Central pairs perfectly with its tacos, burritos, and meat-centric asados. Lead by Sonora born Rogelio Cañez, La Central is an interpretation of his roots and “gathering with friends and family on Sunday for a bbq”.
The aromas from the grill will grab you first thing as you walk into the brewery for an icy cold craft beer or kombucha. The menu dishes out specials like their Rockefeller Burrito, served Sonoran style in a fresh tortilla filled with grilled steak, shrimp, caramelized onions, guacamole, and cream cheese. You will find it hard to put down in between bites, so many flavors, and definitely a favorite.
Another hit is the Rib Eye steak that is marinated in salsa macha, then cooked directly over the coals, and finished off with a honey glaze. So smoky and the ideal accompaniment to a refreshing brew of choice.
A few other menu options include their classic hamburger, an irresistible chipotle shrimp taco, carne asada fries, quesadillas for the kids, and ceviche for the mariscos lovers. It’s a great spot to come with the family, with outside seating, and a communal atmosphere.
You know where you can find us during the upcoming warm summer evenings.
