Tijuana Tidbits

Day trips to Tijuana are a convenient "getaway" for us. We get to enjoy a change of scenery, as well as enjoy delicious food. I can't be the only one that has a list of everything they want to eat prepared, before even crossing the border. Okay, so maybe I don't actually write anything down, but it's all about the mental lists. Tijuana isn't only about amazing tacos, but they are often the first stop we make, no matter what our plans for the day are.

Tacos Las Quince Letras

Every taqueria that you stop at in Tijuana has their own unique flare. You will never find two that are exactly alike. It is common to see amongst Tijuanenses that they all have their favorite spot to eat tacos at. Everyone will state their own reasons why those are the best tacos in town, and why you must go there. What I love most about the tacos at Quince Letras is the way that the meat tastes. I ordered Carne Asada tacos, which is what I almost always order. They have such a nice smokiness flavor to them, and that is the main flavor that stuck out to me the most. They were all around pretty good tacos, just maybe not my favorite. I am up for trying any recommendations, so please feel free to tell me some of them in the comments.

La Stazione Cafe

My husband is the main coffee drinker between the two of us, but I do love my occasional espresso. We ordered the Cortado Oaxaqueño. This is espresso "cut" with milk, and the addition of chocolate from the Oaxaca region. The chocolate adds a very distinct taste to the espresso, which I happened to love. It adds a deep and earthy characteristic to the overall drink. As you are ordering your drink of choice, you can't help but notice the colorful macarons out of the corner of your eye. We opted for the Pumpkin and Pistachio macarons, which were a delicate and sweet little addition to the Cortado Oaxaqueño. They offer different drinks besides coffee, as well as a small sandwich menu. I really want to try their Jasmine Lemonade the next chance that I get.

Panadería El Molino

There is not much that compares to the smell of fresh bread and baked goods wafting through the air. Pan Dulce has a special place in my heart, and the fresher the better. When I see colorful displays of pan dulce staring at me, I feel like a kid at Disneyland. I wanted to stack each and every cookie and baked good in the place onto my tray. Of course, I held my self back, and just tried choosing a few. We will go back there right? El Molino is an easy stop as you head towards the border crossing. A great reason to stop is that you will then be able to enjoy your delicious baked goods while waiting in line to cross.
